Faith in God...
The existence of God cannot be proved or disproved. The Bible even says that
we must accept by faith the fact that God exists, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that
He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6).
There is evidence of God's existence. The Bible states, "The heavens declare
the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day
they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is
no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out
into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world" (Psalm 19:1-4).
The vastness of the universe and observing the wonders of nature, all of
these things point to a Creator God. There is also evidence of God in our own
hearts. Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us, We cannot deny God's presence in us.
The theological argument is that since the universe displays such an
amazing design, there must have been a Divine designer.
Someone or something must have caused everything to come into existence.
Every country, city, community in the world throughout history has had some form
of law. God, the Creator of all things, set forth His laws in a book "The Bible". Everyone has a sense of what is right and wrong. Where did this
sense of right and wrong come from if not from a holy God?
If God exists, then we are all accountable for our actions to Him. God
exists and ultimately everyone knows that He exists. The very fact that
some attempt to disprove His existence is an argument for His existence.
God's existence must be accepted by faith (Hebrews 11:6).
Faith that is Rewarded...
Faith that is rewarded is comprised of Four Essentials:
1. Asking
2. Believing strongly in the heart
3. Confessing from the soul
4. Acting upon the confession.
1 Jn. 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
Renew the Faith...
One day I asked my daughter why she believed in God. Her answer to me was, "I would rather believe in a God and die to find out there isn't a God, than to live believing there isn't and die to find out there is." This has stuck with me ever since she mentioned it several years back. O, my wise child, such an easy answer to an otherwise complicated question.
This question looms before me quite often as I begin doubting the Lord about all the bad things happening in the world. "He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:18. Are the people that God created in his image, the blame for all the evil that goes on daily? The headlines read daily like bad/evil scifi movies. I begin to doubt the existence of God. I can't believe that God would allow these evil things to happen to innocent people. The devastation never seems to cease. And then the questions begin. Did not God create me with a free will? Do I not have choices? So what must I do to believe again or otherwise renew my faith? How can I get my faith back? What if there really is a God when I die?
We all have free will and can choose. It is far easier to do the wrong thing than the right thing. It is easy to be cruel and hard to be nice. It is easier to cheat than to be honest. "The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth." Psalm 37:21. The list of does and don'ts can go on and on, but again, the choice is ours. We, alone, can choose, right from wrong.
Most of us don't go to church every week. However, our faithful commitment and love of the Lord Jesus Christ can bring stability, meaning, and extraordinary changes to our lives, if we just let it happen. We should all start a journey to renew our faith, accept Jesus Christ, and turn our lives around. We should all become active evangelists, we should read Scriptures every day, and we should turn to prayer and meditate daily.
Remember a time when most of us were religious and God fearing... We don't need to have mind shattering experiences to make our faith give new meaning to our lives. It is as simple as beginning a walk on a journey where we recommit our hearts to Jesus Christ. We should let our faith teach us how to have humility, be good parents and human beings, pray for wisdom, patience and understanding, and treat others as we want to be treated. It is with this kind of knowledge that we will feel transformed and begin to understand the true meaning of the Word. It will give us a renewing in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Believe in Jesus Christ. Worship Him. He is the living son of the living God. Jesus Christ is the word itself. Have Christ in your heart. "...The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you." 2 Chronicles 15:2.
There really is a God! How do I know? I feel him in my heart and my soul. I feel His presence all around and everywhere I've been and everyplace I go. I know he is there. I do good because I believe in him. "But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:6. And when I fall to the devil, I pick myself up and start over again. I never give up renewing my faith daily to the Lord Jesus Christ.
God is the creator, and like those of us who have children, we can't control them or what they do anymore than God can control the human race. We would hope the things we taught our children as they were growing up will stick in their hearts and souls. So it is with God.
The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins so that one day we may join Him in heaven. We always want the best for our children so therefore we should teach our children to have faith in Jesus Christ. God has a plan. "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6. Of course, we want heaven for our children while they are here on earth and the thereafter, and as long as we have faith, they will be there with us when we die and go to heaven. "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by grace ye are saved; and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus." Ephesians 2:4-7.
